Privacy policy

This policy explains how LA Crypto Desk — the website at losangeles-crypto.com — handles information. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than boilerplate, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not really a disclosure.

Last updated

The short version

We run an informational website. We do not hold accounts, we do not custody funds, we do not sell anything directly, and we have no reason to collect personal information about you. There is no login, no user account and no newsletter signup on this site. If you email us, we have your email. That is essentially the whole picture.

What we do not collect

  • Financial credentials. We never ask for and cannot receive bank details, card numbers or payment information.
  • Crypto credentials. We will never ask for a seed phrase, recovery phrase, private key or wallet password. Nobody legitimate ever will, and you should not send them to anyone.
  • Account logins. There is no account system on this site.
  • Government identifiers. No Social Security numbers, no passport or driver's license details.
  • Sensitive personal information as defined under California law. We have no use for it and do not seek it.

What is collected when you visit

Like essentially every website, our hosting infrastructure processes standard technical information in the course of serving pages to you: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose faults. It is not used to build a profile of you and it is not sold.

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful in aggregate — how many people read the Bitcoin ATM guide, whether the tax page is being found. Where we do, we configure it to avoid collecting more than we need, and the output we look at is aggregate rather than individual.

Cookies

This site is deliberately light on cookies. We do not run advertising networks or cross-site tracking pixels. Your theme preference — light or dark — is stored locally in your own browser using local storage; it never reaches us and it exists only on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Third-party services we link to, and any affiliate partner you choose to visit, operate their own cookies and their own policies once you are on their site. We have no control over those and you should read the policy of any platform where you open an account.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links on this site may earn us a commission if you open an account, at no additional cost to you. Where such a link exists, following it may involve the partner recording that the visit came from us — typically through a referral parameter or cookie set by them, not by us. We do not receive your personal information, your account details or your transaction data from any partner.

Our full position on how this works and what it does not buy is set out on our methodology page. In short: commissions fund the research and never determine rankings, scores or content.

Email

If you email contact@losangeles-crypto.com, we receive your message and your email address, and we keep the correspondence so we can follow up and track corrections. We do not add you to any marketing list — we do not operate one. We do not share your correspondence with third parties except where legally required.

Please do not send us sensitive personal or financial information by email. We do not need it, and email is not a secure channel for it.

Your California privacy rights

California residents have rights under state privacy law, including rights to know what personal information a business has collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we collect so little, most requests will be satisfied by us confirming that we hold nothing beyond any email correspondence you have initiated.

To exercise any right, email contact@losangeles-crypto.com from the address you contacted us from, describing what you want. We will respond within the timeframes the law requires and will not discriminate against you for asking.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS as static pages, which removes most categories of application-level risk by design — there is no database of user records to breach because there are no user records. No system is perfectly secure, but the honest reason your data is safe here is that we do not have any.

External links

We link to government sources, regulators, operators and platforms throughout the site. All external links are marked nofollow. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or privacy practices of any external site, and a link is not an endorsement of their data handling. Verify license and regulatory claims yourself through public registers — our regulation guide explains how.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly substituted.

Not financial advice

Repeating the point that runs through this site: LA Crypto Desk is an independent informational publication. We are not a bank, broker, exchange, money transmitter, tax adviser or law firm, and nothing here is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Cryptocurrency is volatile and you can lose the entire amount you put in. Always confirm current terms with a provider before transacting, and consult a licensed professional about your own situation.
